Marlon Leekam, a colleague and friend, lost all of his belongings during Hurricane Harvey.
Houston, a few days after the storm, shows two different worlds. There are many areas where you'd never know that such a massive storm passed over. The sun is shining and the ground has mostly dried. There are others that remain submerged under feet of water. Unfortunately, Marlon's first floor apartment was located near those now infamous reservoirs on the west side of Houston and will likely remain flooded for weeks after the rain stops.
Marlon was finally evacuated yesterday (Aug. 31) and is finally on safe dry land. He got out with a few dry clothes, some important papers, and his mobile phone. Everything else remains submerged under several feet of water.
The fund-raising goal of $7,500 is set to help defray Marlon's temporary living expenses and help him to replace some of his belongings.
For anybody in the Houston area that wants to donate, donations of funiture, housewares, kitchen items, Target/Wal-mart gift cards, etc. are welcome. I've already located a coffee table and dining room table. You can reach me by clicking the email icon next to my profile.
I'm attaching a few pictures. The first is from Marlon's apartment, taken on the second day of rain. The water eventually rose within feet of the ceiling. The other pictures were taken during Marlon's evacuation, two days after the rain stopped and the waters had started to recede.
I'm initially sending this to friends, colleagues, and family who might be inclined to help. Please share with others who want to help a stranger in need.

Update (9/3): We've located a vehicle for Marlon to use until his car can be accessed. it is currently in the apartment building garage which is still surrounded by water.

The funds raised through this campaign will be released directly to Marlon through this website as he is the designated beneficiary. Funds will be utilized to cover short-term living expenses and cover some expenses related to lost furniture, housewares, etc.
