The night of Friday, Aug. 25th 2017 changed my family’s life for the foreseeable future, maybe forever. Harvey came ashore with recorded 132 mile per hour winds and devastated Rockport, TX including my father and step mother's home. I have personally seen metal twisted into knots. There is nowhere to work, nowhere to eat, nowhere to go to school. Many days a can of Vienna sausage is all you get when the hot food is all passed out by Red Cross. If you get a chance to volunteer in Rockport it will change you. The people of Rockport are resilient, but you can see the shock in their eyes and feel the pain in their hugs.
We have been waiting on FEMA help to begin reconstructing their home, but because FEMA doesn’t value a mobile home the same as a regular brick and mortar home, they didn’t receive enough FEMA help to even get my parents mobile home hauled off as trash. I just don’t understand… It’s our home. My parents worked hard for our home…
It’s very difficult to ask for help, but like many others right now, this problem just seems bigger than we are. If you can, we would appreciate any help you can give. We will be forever grateful and always have your back.
