7 weeks ago Dad had a complete knee replacement and has been off while recovering. Things had been going well and he was healing nicely when the completely unthinkable and unexpected happened....Tuesday October 10th in the evening Dad had a heart attack. He was rushed to Fort Frances hospital where they determined he needed further testing to the cause of his heart attack. Once in Thunder bay the cardiologist determined that dad has a genetic condition causing his valve to become defective as well as leading to an enlarging of his heart and scar tissue. The cardiologist has determined that he requires open heart surgery in Toronto, to replace the valve and apply an mesh tube over the scar tissue. He will be going sometime this week and will be spending 7-10 days in Toronto, after which he will be off work to recover for 3-6 months, this on top of the 2 months he has been off already for his knee. Through all of his Mom has been by his side, and will be having to take enormous amounts of time off as well to be with him and take care of him. With mounting costs of travel and hotels, and everyday bills piling up at home they need help now more then ever to get through this.
They would never be ones to ask for a handout, but this is their time of need and could use any and all the support available to them to ensure harvey can focus solely on the surgery ahead of him and the recovery to follow.
