( ) This is the story of my 90% blind musician friend from Turkey. He’s only 29 now and life is not fair for him anymore.
He was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and keratoconus eye diseases which currently made him completely blind at nights. He can’t go out alone without assistance. When I first met him in 2016, he had difficulties with his sight. But at least, he could read, write and graduate from university at those times. Now it’s not possible for him to do so. While walking, he often bumps into objects around and gets injuries. RP is such a disease that makes you blind slowly in time. And eventually, you get into complete darkness.
We were looking for a cure or something that may help. Then we found Fedorov Restore Vision Clinic in Berlin. They do electro-stimulus therapy for RP disease which may help. Even if that therapy stops his disease going worse, that would be a huge step for him. Moreover, some patients reported that their sight got much better after that therapy. Harun was very excited to hear that.

Halk arasında tavukkarası diye bilinen retinitis pigmentosa ve keratoconus göz hastalıkları tanılarım var. Şu an %90 körlük düzeyinde ve ilerlemeye devam ediyor. Tavukkarası göz arkasındaki ışığı algılayan hücreleri öldürüyor. Önce gece körlüğü ile başlıyor. Ardından kenarlar kararıyor (sadece ortadan küçük bir deliğin içinden görüyorsunuz) ve en sonunda tamamen karanlığa götürüyor insanı
Tedavilerle ilgili ülkemizde değil ama yurtdışında bir umut ışığı var. Ben de bu umut ışığını aramak için bir yolculuğa başladım. Berlin’de Fedorov Vision Restore Clinic adında bir klinik var. Burada tavukkarası hastalığı için elektro-stimulus terapisi uygulanıyor. Bu terapi hastalığın ilerlemesini yavaşlatsa bile benim için çok önemli bir kazanım olur. Ve dahası bu tedaviyi almış hastalar görmede iyileşme olduğunu bildiriyor.
