Losing a child is the most heartbreaking thing that can ever happen to a parent. After losing three children, Erica and David know this pain all too well.
When Erica and David were first married, Erica embraced David's son with the excitement and love that comes from being a first-time mom, but they knew that they soon wanted to grow their family. They quickly became pregnant. At 8 months along, they lost their baby girl, Hayden, with no explanation.
Their entire family was so taken aback by this loss and grieved along with Erica and David.
Not long after, Erica and David were expecting again. Seven months later, they put their second baby girl, Riley, to rest. Once again there was no explanation and the entire family was left with feelings of grief and helplessness.
With her third pregnancy, Erica was admitted to the hospital when she was 24 weeks along to be monitored. Their family praised God when a healthy baby girl, Gracelynn Elizabeth Hartzog, was born on January 23, 2009.
Gracelynn is a sweet, beautiful 5-year-old who is adored by her parents. Erica and David work so well together to balance the other through the love, discipline and life lessons that they share with her.
Erica and David recently decided they wanted to grow their family even more and found out they were expecting again a few months ago. It was another girl and David, Erica, and especially Gracelynn, were all so excited. But at 16 weeks along, she lost the child.
Through all of their heartache and pain, Erica and David grow closer to one another and The Lord. Their faith in God and one another has been astounding.
Now Erica and David have opened their hearts and home to adoption. They feel that they have more love to offer and would love to give Gracelynn a sibling. As many of you know, adoption expenses are steep. Although Erica and David plan to shoulder most of the financial burden, they could use some help.
Erica and David deserve a chance to bring a child into their home to love and cherish. Although their pain of losing three baby girls will never be gone, new life in their home would be a wonderful gift of joy from God.
