Hartley Family Needs Your Support

Hello!

My name is Roy Watson.

I have decided to start up a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses and regular monthly expenses for the Hartley family as their son Blaze goes through a pretty invasive brain surgery. Blaze's parents will be alongside him the entire time he is in the hospital. His new "normal" will look different once he has had this surgery. This added income will help to lift the stress of the lost wages while off of work so they can also relearn how to help Blaze in his new day-to-day life.

Here is a little bit about Blaze.

When Blaze was born, he had a brain bleed, which caused him to have seizures. They don't happen often, but when they do, they're really bad. They have tried different medications, and he got a vagal nerve stimulator four years ago that helps, but not enough. After a lot of thought, his parents and doctors have decided that it is in his best interest to have a brain surgery called a hemispherotomy. This procedure will disconnect one side of his brain from the other to stop the seizures from spreading. It sounds scary (and it is), but the goal is to stop the seizures and improve his quality of life. He will be in the hospital for about six weeks to heal, do therapy, and relearn how to do all the things he loves to do.

Blaze is a very happy, very upbeat kid. With all of the kind thoughts and prayers from everyone, I know he will have a good and positive recovery and remain that happy kid he has always been.
