Support Harshad Patel's Family

Harshad Patel, 44 years young, also known as "Hersh", or "Rico", or "Bachan” has always been full of life and is ALWAYS helping his friends and family.  His contagious smile, laugh, and warm heart brighten up any room. He has a special way of connecting with people and holds his friendships and relationships close to his heart. He is the comedian of our family, who is always the life of the party.  

Hersh is a devoted husband to Rakshita, and a wonderful role model to his three kids Rena (age13), Alysha (age 12), Rehan (age 9). Hersh worked as an alarm and fire systems technician and he truly was a dedicated employee. His motto is “work the job not just the hours” and he applies that in his work life and his home life. He's the type of person who would give the shirt off his back and is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. As a child Hersh was always happy go lucky and full of energy. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the age of seven. AML is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells, or platelets*.  You would have never known he was fighting a battle to survive when you talked to him. Even as a child while going through this, he was upbeat and bubbly.  Against great odds he was successfully cured for many years. As a result of one of his childhood transfusions, as an adult Hersh learned he had Hepatitis C. The Hep C was finally cured in 2014. April 13th, 2016 was a very difficult day for Harshad; the day he found out that his AML was back. 


The last two years, have  been a long and difficult battle emotionally, mentally, and physically for not only Hersh, but his family. Rakshita takes him  into the hospital two to three days a week for chemotherapy infusions along with other therapies to help realign his electrolytes. The hospital is about 45 minutes each way and he spends the entire day 7am-7pm getting infusions. After returning home, he is wiped of energy which makes it very hard to spend quality time with his family.

Harshad and Rakshita both have been out of work since the recent diagnosis. Harshad and the family need our support financially and more so spiritually.  In addition, to a monetary contribution, your prayers and positive thoughts are what Harshad needs most.
