Harry's Walk for the Evelina Children's Hospital
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Harry and I am fundraising for the Evelina Children's Hospital. On Monday 5th February 2024, I spent 7.5 hours in surgery at the Evelina Hospital, having two major operations on my spine to fix my condition called spondylolisthesis. In November 2023, I was diagnosed with grade 3 spondylolisthesis - a slip of the spine, which caused me a lot of back pain, terrible sciatic pain in my legs, and leading to my spine curving to compensate for the slipped vertebra. I've had this pain since before the summer holidays in 2023, and we had been to see doctors, and physios but it wasn't until I had a private MRI scan that we could really see the scale of the problem. I was referred to the Evelina Children's Hospital in London for urgent surgery, and both operations were very successful, and I am recovering well now at home!
The staff at the Evelina were incredible, from the surgeons to the nurses on the ward - and it is amazing what they have done to fix me!
I’d like to give something back to this much needed children’s hospital and have decided to “walk a marathon in March” - i.e. cover 26 miles this month, as part of my goal to get back to normal life!
Thank you in advance for your kind sponsorship. It means so much to me.
