Harry Rockafeller Memorial

The story of Harry Rockafeller came to me by a chance meeting between myself and the General. I'm a Wall Township police officer and answered a routine call one day and there I met Harry Rockafeller.  It didn't take long for me to discover that we had a highly decorated war hero living in our town and nobody knew.  To see the whole story, we've created a video that will fill you in. The campaign goal is to dedicate a 9' bronze statue of Harry outside the Wall Township police department so that we can remember him and honor all our veterans.

The Wall Township PBA Local 234 Civic Association (501C3) is proud to announce a fundraising initiative to honor veterans and WWII hero Harry “Rocky” Rockafeller.

Major General Harry "Rocky" Rockafeller was a highly decorated combat veteran of the 4th Armored Division in WWII.  He was 3 times recommended for the Distinguished Service Cross, our Nation's second highest award; however, he received 3 Silver Stars for those actions. He also received a Bronze Star with V Device for Valor, a Purple Heart, and several other commendations. During WWII Rocky was a Captain promoted to Major.  "Rocky” retired from the United States Army in 1974 as a Major General.  He lived on River Rd in Wall since the end of WWII until his passing on August 8th, 2017

”Rocky” came face to face and fought the worst evil in modern history in France, Belgium, and Germany.  What he and the rest of the Greatest Generation did for humanity, freedom and our country cannot be forgotten and we fear that with each day that these warriors pass, their legacy and honor passes with them, especially at the local level.  Most of Wall Township did not know of Harry Rockafeller or his sacrifice, courage, and heroism.  We are fairly certain the entire state of NJ did not either.

The Wall Twp PBA local 234 Civic Association will remedy that problem permanently.

We plan to dedicate a 9 foot Bronze Monument for our WWII Veterans which will depict Harry Rockafeller during the first days of the Battle of the Bulge. This statue will be placed in front of Wall Twp Police Headquarters on Veterans Day 2018.

We are respectfully requesting your donations to fund the creation, delivery, and installation of this monument, which is being created by award-winning sculptor, Chad Fisher, of Fisher Sculpture, which will be dedicated on Veterans Day 2018 at the Wall Township Police Department.
