Harrison's CDH Battle

In November, Bryan and Rachel were told that Harrison has a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH occurs when a hole in the diaphragm fails to close during prenatal development. This is a life-threatening birth defect where the diaphragm does not form properly and allows other organs to move into the chest cavity.

In December, Rachel went to a specialist at CHOP, and Harrison was given a 35% chance of survival. Rachel and Bryan researched further for a source for a second opinion. Their research led them to Dr. David Kays at Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg FL. Dr. Kays is a renowned CDH surgeon. Dr Kays reviewed records from CHOP and told Rachel and Bryan that he wanted to help Harrison.

Rachel, Bryan, and Sara relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in early February, where they began their stay at the Ronald McDonald House.

Sweet Harrison was born on Monday, March 19, and was sent directly to the CVICU. He underwent surgery on Monday, March 26. He was on ECMO (Heart and Lung Bypass) until April 4.

He was transferred to the NICU on April 9 to continue his recovery. He has a long road ahead. Bryan and Rachel  hope to continue to stay at the Ronald McDonald House as Harrison recovers.

As you can see, this is an overwhelming situation Bryan and Rachel are faced with. Unfortunately, there are many added expenses that go along with caring for a CDH baby like Harrison. On top of medical expenses, copays, and deductibles there is the cost of travel to and from St. Petersburg, FL, day to day needs like groceries and clothing and the unknown of time away from work. Harrison will be hospitalized for at least 3-6 months.

The proceeds will directly benefit Rachel, Bryan, and Sara as they are so far away from home.

Please help by donating, no amount is too small!

Bryan, Rachel, and Sara are so thankful for your help! Prayers are especially welcome! Thank You and God Bless!
