Harley's Surgery

Donation protected
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read about our Harley. Harley is a nine year old rescue who loves long walks and playing with her best friend Malibu. She goes crazy over the word "Squirrel" and cannot sniff out a treat even if it is right in front of her. Harley has always been the spunkiest bootychunk we've ever known so when we noticed she lost a pep in her step, we were concerned. After a visit to the vet, it was confirmed that Harley has a ruptured anterior (cranial) cruciate ligament in her right leg; this injury is quite common in larger breed dogs. It is a tiny thing but happens to be the most weight bearing ligament in  her leg, so it is very important. She cannot put any weight on her right leg and therefore is overworking her left one (and that ligament can tear as well if stressed too much).

The only option that is benificial for our bootychunk is to have surgery to repair and replace that ligament. It is a $3500 surgery in which a specialist surgeon has to fly out from northern California to perform. There is also a very rigorous physical therapy plan in place for 8 weeks after the surgery. With the vet saying that Harley is in perfect health especially for a 9 year old dog, both us and the vet are confident that she will regain full use of her legs with the surgery and PT.

Of course, timing has a mind of its own. Currently, Jess and I are in a bit of a financial pickle. Between preparing for Jess's self sponsorship through a police academy in a few months and a very large car maintenance bill, money is pretty tight. Also this surgery ideally needs to happen within the next month or so because of a couple factors. One being that we do not want Harley to be in pain longer and to lessen the stress that she puts on her other leg. The other reason is also that the surgeon usually gets booked up by the holiday season. So here we are hoping we could get some help with making our chunk of love feel better. Even if someone donates a penny, we would be eternally grateful. Even for those who reach out to us (and who already have) to help with anything regarding her recovery, your generosity will never go unnoticed.

Again thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for even reading our page! It means the world to us!
