Howie's LAST CHANCE!

PLEASE HELP FIX HOWIE'S DEFORMED LEG!

Howie (formerly Dumbo) came to Pit Crew Sacramento from the Stanislaus County Shelter, where he was classified as "Rescue Only" and slated for euthanasia due to an extreme deformity in his legs. The shelter staff LOVED his handsome face and amazing temperament, and fought like crazy to find a rescue to save his life. PCS was more than happy to!

After pulling Howie from the shelter, the vet officially diagnosed him with Dwarfism and an extreme deformity due to bad breeding. His front right leg is twisted, so he stands and walks on his wrist more often than not, and his back legs are bowed.

Now that he's safe in foster care and living the good life, Howie is the HAPPIEST boy!! His foster mom calls him "Happy Howie" because he's always smiling and wiggling his little butt and extra-long tail with joy! Howie is the rescue's resident Dancing Machine - he gets so excited any time he gets a treat that he does a little jig! (See for yourself on PCS' Facebook page HERE .)

Although Howie doesn't seem to notice his deformity, the vets have determined that without intervention, as he gets older the condition of his legs and joints will continue to deteriorate, making it very difficult for him to walk without severe pain or damage. He's a chunky little meatball, and putting weight directly on his twisted wrist instead of his paw puts a lot of strain on those bones. :(

Howie's dream is to find a forever family of his own, so to make that possible and set him up for a long life of success, happiness, and as little pain as possible, orthopedic surgery is required to correct his twisted front leg.

This is where you come in! The estimated cost for Howie's surgery with an orthopedic specialist is approximately $3700. Once the surgery is complete, he will need additional post-op evaluations and follow-up appointments, possible physical therapy as he recovers, and of course pain medications. There are costs that have already been incurred throughout the process of determining proper steps (consultations, etc.), and as with any major operation, there is the potential for unforeseen medical expenses. To ensure that Howie gets all the care he needs (both during the operation and post-op), PCS is setting a fundraising goal of $5500.

The sooner we can reach this goal of $5500, the sooner Howie can get the surgery he needs and dance his way into his forever family's hearts!

Please donate today to keep Howie dancing!!
