Happy Home For Harley

Nearly two years ago, we were asked by friends from our church family to care for a newborn for three to six months.    We went into this arrangement with no expectations on where it would lead.  We were asked to help and we did. 

That is when we met Harley.  Harley has been with us nearly all of her 24 months of life.  Now, she knows the strength of our arms, the smell of our hair.  She brightens with the laughter in our home, and moves in the rhythm of our household.  Our home is her home.  Our love is her love.  

Throughout this process we have maintained contact with the birth parents in the form of phone contact and regularly scheduled visits that we arrange.  We have continued to pray for and encourage the parents as we walk this out.  We yearn to see a significant change in their daily lives. 

However, with each setback they suffer, our hearts become more certain with the truth.  We need to secure a secure, stable, and permanent future for Harley – one full of love and joy and safety. We are seeking this through a legal motion for adoption.  That is what this campaign is for.  We seek to begin the process immediately and need to fund the cost of our Houston lawyer.

We continue to seek this prayerfully and humbly. People often ask, “how do you do it?  Are you crazy?!” Our answer; “how can you not?”  We didn’t enter into this to add to our family or for selfish intentions.  We are called to serve by God, and we humbly obey.

 We don’t have the means to pursue this on our own. 



   So we now reach out and ask those who have joined us in this journey for your support.  Many of you have prayed for us, encouraged us and met our physical needs through food, diapers and child care.  We are and continue to be grateful.  Please join us in our quest to keep Harley home.
