GAIGE STRONG!!!
Donation protected
Hi Everyone, on Halloween Day my son Gaige was diagnosed with the Flu type A. When suddenly, overnight he was rushed to Beverly Knight Children’s Hospital in Macon, GA. Immediately, he was placed on a ventilator machine; that was poorly maintained and his plethora of atrocities began. From the moment he was placed on the vent, the hands caring for him continuously tried to kill him. First, his central line was covered in filth and injected him with sepsis… where it turned to a rare purlpural funigiform or, necrotizing flesh eating disease; a deep vein thrombosis clotted the entire length of his right leg when the nurses used the line to transfuse 8 pints of blood, to “save” him. His kidneys shut down from the sepsis, yielding continuous & intermittent dialysis (that he no longer needs, Praise Jesus!!!) and he also was victim to 3 bed sores while they were “caring” for MY BABY. He even coded in front of his nurse Mommy, from what was thought to be a pulmonary embolism when he desaturated to 5% oxygen! Gaige got as sick as he did so fast, because this was our first inclination that he has type 1 juvenile Diabetes. Since then, Gaige has been flown to Wolfsen Childrens Hospital in Jacksonville, Fl twice by helicopter. Once on Christmas Day, and the second time at New Years. He was placed on the ventilator again to repair his airway of the damage done in Macon. He has conquered and won so many life-threatening issues, to include the last life flight where he was sufficiently saturated with oxygen in his bloodstream without even having a visible chest rise!!! Gaige is doing well and on the mend HALLELUJAH!!! However, the only family support we have our me (his mommy) and him (Gaige.) We lost my Mom in 2021 to lung cancer in just 10 short months and we have nobody else we can ask. I have remained bedside with my son this entire time. Halloween, Thanksgiving, My Birthday, Christmas, and New Years all spent fighting for his life! I am so proud of how strong the man I’m raising is! However, sleeping bedside in a hospital doesn’t earn income for my child. I am his sole provider and proud to be! I’ve said that to say… WE NEED YOUR HELP! I cannot go back to work yet, as he already has an operating room booked for February 10th, where the surgeon will have to go back in to revisit his air way and we Hope and Pray in Jesus Holy Name, the damage is not so extensive that he will not need open chest surgery! Without any income, I’m praying our vehicle doesn’t get repoed, and I’m steadfast that God will provide food on the table! I work very hard to support myself, my father, and my son and have never had to ask anyone for anything! It is extremely difficult for me to beg, but I’m scared for my son’s life and his livelihood. His Grandad moved out on us in the middle of the hardest thing we have ever been through (bc I can’t nurse two patients atm) and I have zero family support that I can count on. Next Monday MLK day, is his 16th birthday, & I’m reaching out in hopes that maybe you will feel led to donate to Gaige! He is such a Good, Kind, Loving, Patient, and Well Disciplined Young Man! He deserves a Chance at Living a Life He’s always Imagined! Please help me and Gaige by donating so that we can confidently know we will get back to Jacksonville & Macon for his follow up appointments in Feb & March. Thanks for your time, and mostly just for listening. Signed his Mommy, Melanie Simmons.
