This is where our Mission to bring Happiness to Cuba began:
This story started in 2015 when Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar visited the island after receiving permission of Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos to visit the FARC leaders in Havana and to mediate for peace. The visit changed their whole mindset and permitted the end of the Colombian conflict. As a result, some AOL teachers visited the island to teach a couple of huge Happiness Programs (the biggest was an 800 people program!) to Cuban people. But as time progressed, those teachers couldn't come back and the participants were left on their own.
In January 2017, I embarked on a journey to Cuba, looking forward to keep the energy moving there. What happened was simply amazing! I ended up in a school teaching about 50 teenagers the powerful YES! For Schools program, as well as to 8 of their teachers. Also, I gave a Happiness Program for about 40 repeaters that were enthusiastic about AOL, and as a result, the Cuban AOL Board was created.
The whole year after that visit was a big challenge to keep the volunteers inspired for our next visit. We were planning some retreats for Americans in Cuba to fund the programs there, but everything changed with the new regulations brought in by the president. That is why we are now engaging a lot of friends and AOL family in this campaign to raise funds for these people that are craving for inner freedom.
OUR GOAL FOR JANUARY 2018 TRIP TO CUBA IS TO TEACH 1 HAPPINESS PROGRAM AND 1 SAHAJ SAMADHI COURSE TO AT LEAST 100 PEOPLE.
We are focusing our attention on empowering the existing volunteers there and inspiring them to become teachers as soon as possible so that they can continue the work there without our constant help. To be able to take the FIRST POOL OF VOLUNTEERS TO TTC IN 2019, we need to visit the island a couple of times this year, bringing them the best advanced programs of AOL. That is the reason WE NEED YOUR HELP! To be able to take this programs there until the first pool of teachers is created there.
