Hello, I am 35 years old and beyond excited to be pregnant for the first time after trying for years. We feel privileged and blessed that God has answered our prayers and given us this gift to share with the world . We feel that God purposely chose us to raise a very special baby girl who will also have Down Syndrome. While this pregnancy has been a bit of a challenge from the beginning and will undoubtedly continue to be, we can't wait. A little background; At my first few appointments I made the decision to have genetic testing done. My Mother was adopted and I have no knowledge of my Father's family history - So - after consulting my doctor we thought this was the right thing to do. In doing this, my bloodwork showed an extra chromosome 21. We immediately decided to do further testing. Next, I had an amniocentesis done. Amniocentesis is where the doctor inserts a needle through the abdomen wall into the uterus and takes out a tablespoon of amniotic fluid. This is an invasive procedure but we needed to know that way we could prepare for her and be as knowledgeable as we could about her possible condition. A week later I received a call from my Genetic Counselor about my results. She informed me that the lab grew 20 cells from the fluid sample and that all 20 cells have the extra chromosome 21. This put me from 71% chance to 98% chance of her having Down Syndrome. We had already prepared ourselves for this and decided to keep what we see as a blessing.  I found out I was pregnant in March. We're excited and flooded with all kinds of feelings and had no idea what was in store...Well, I don't think anybody did, but as we all know now - The Coronavirus Pandemic has unfolded in front of our eyes. I've watched as the tragedy struck us and feel awful for all affected. I've been working in hospitality for over 18 years. It's what I know and love. Regrettably, I have been laid off and was thankfully receiving unemployment until my benefits and the PPP ran out. I have asthma and a high risk pregnancy and I'm beyond worried to return and serve the public given all that I've been told by my doctors. We have run through our savings during the Pandemic and want to provide the best life possible for my baby girl. It's come to the point where I'm asking for any help that you can give. I have been blessed with some gracious friends and wonderful "hand me downs" from friends' parents.  I'm beyond appreciative for everything, but far from where I need to be. What was a joyous time has turned into one of stress and fear and I don't know what else I can do right now, but love and pray. I'm hoping I can get through this and it'll be a story I one day share with my daughter, sweet Giavanna Marie. Thanks and Love Ashley and Jermaine
