Happily Ever Africa

For everyone who knows us, you'd know that we tend to have quite the wishful ideas and massive ambitions!!! And this evolving plan of ours is no different...  We want to be able to use our love for the greater good in our world. That is, to help others in need and who don't particularly have the same opportunities and luxuries as we do here in Australia.

We want to combine our passion for sports to volunteer in a range of projects in Kenya and Zambia.

We both have a copious amount of experience in the sports, fitness and health industry. We wish to work towards changing perceptions around physical activity and promoting the importance of a healthy balanced lifestyle to under-privileged communities. We truly believe we can bring a fun, creative and dynamic way to empower locals with a sense of self-worth and development. This would be achieved through a range of initiatives including; teaching PE lessons at local schools, delivering health talks, running sport clubs and coaching programs (e.g. tennis, rugby, soccer).

Our fundraising and efforts will go towards the following initiatives;
- Gathering & purchasing sports equipment and resources to donate to under-privileged communities
- Arranging for sports equipment to be shipped over from Australia

- Providing classroom assistance and leading Maths, English, Art and  PE classes
- Assist in providing one-on-one tutoring adults and children
- Work at Maramba Old People's Home to engage residences in games, reading and activities to provide stimulation and improve their QOL
- Running community Adult Literacy Classes
- Help communities set up sustainable farming programs, and provide assistance in preparing the land, planting, watering and harvesting
- Work in building projects to mix cement, lay bricks and concrete floors, plaster walls or refurbish existing buildings
- Additional donations towards infrastructure & resources to allow communities to function more effectively and promote a greater quality of life

It really will take lots of work to get it all in place, thus we have been working upwards of 65hrs per week in order to make this trip a reality! As we are hoping to leave in July, we only have 3-4 months to get things together.

There is no doubt that we will go to every length we can to find a way to help underprivileged communities. With not much time left, one of these lengths has now brought us towards seeing if there is anyone who may be willing to help us help others. Even the smallest donations would really go a long way - over 15,000 km that is!!!

We can't even describe how much it would mean to us to have your support and hope that we can find a way to spread goodness in the world.

From your happilyeverPostles,
Rita & Ben.
