MISSION: THAILAND

Hello friends and family! I will be going to Chaing Rai, Thailand this summer and I am asking for prayer and financial support! Myself and two others will be in northern Thailand for one month. We will be leaving DFW June 25, and returning July 23.

To explain my purpose and goals for the time spent in Thailand, I must explain what I am currently pursuing. I am now in my senior year at Tarleton State University studying Animal Science with a focus in production. For the past two years, I have been avidly pursuing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and learning more and more of what he asks of me. I know that with the rest of my days, regardless of location or vocation, my purpose in life is to share the Gospel, make disciples, and grow in my faith. As I come closer to graduating, I am naturally trying to figure out what I will do in the coming years. This decision is being influenced by: my love of God, Agriculture, People, and Travel. Knowing these are the desires of my heart, spending my life abroad is not a farfetched idea.
In the past year, I have had made many relationship with missionaries all over the world. Doors have opened up for opportunities to see how God is using agriculture to reach lost people groups. For example: the Brittans- an American family that have now lived in Thailand for 8 years. They are using dairy goat farming to support their family and to build relationships in the community. I will be spending time with the Brittans to learn how they use their farm operation for ministry. Harry Brittan has arranged many other learning opportunities with his ministry partners. I will be spending time with a veterinarian who has been in the mission field for 30 years now. I will also work with other Christians who use agriculture for community development.
During this time, I have very specific goals. I will encourage the Brittans, as well as the other missionaries I work with. I want to learn how well I will assimilate into a culture that is completely foreign to my own. Spending a month in Northern Thailand will give me a BASIC understanding of what this Asian culture is like. I hope during this time, I will learn about myself and how able I am to adapt. This will give me a much better idea of my ability and desire to live internationally long-term. I will be able to see how agriculture is being used to reach people, and how these missionaries have seen God move and change people’s hearts. During my travels, I always look forward to meeting new people on planes, walking in the airport or on the street, etc. As I travel, I will encourage the people that I meet, and hopefully have the opportunity to share the Good News.
Specifically regarding agriculture and animal science, I plan to learn from everyone meet. I want to be a student, learning what agricultural practices have worked in Thailand for a very long time. I will be receiving school credit for an internship for my work done in Thailand. My advisor has been very flexible, understanding that this is the closest experience to what I will be doing in my lifetime. This opportunity to learn from these people, and grow in my faith, simply cannot be surpassed. I know that God will be at work, as he always is, and I will be walking each day as he asks. I am not sure many people have the ability to step into the life they see themselves living in 10 years and live it for a month. Please be praying for understanding, faithfulness, growth, and a steadfast heart. Please please please be in prayer for my team and I.
