Hannah's Service Trip to Romania

Hello Friends and Family! I hope this letter finds you well.

I am so excited to share with you that this Spring before I graduate from high school I will have the opportunity partner with Heart of Hope Ministries, serving with a team of students in Romania. Heart of Hope Ministries started in January of 1991 when Debbie Marshall traveled to Romania to adopt a child. She immediately recognized there was far more to do than the adoption of one child, and after seeing the dire needs of the children and families, Heart of Hope Ministries emerged. HHMI is registered in Romania as the non-profit corporate Fundatia, "Heart of Hope" and fully registered in the United States as a 501(C)3 non-profit as "Heart of Hope Ministries International.” Today, the ministry serves the community by operating the Camp of the Good Shepherd, running the Home of Hope transition home for young women, facilitating dental, medical, eye, and pediatric therapy teams, supporting weekly Bible clubs, and distributing humanitarian aid to state placement centers and families in impoverished communities. Please check out their website for more information http://www.heartofhope.org/

This year, I have been reflecting on a passage from Romans 12, which says this: “Be devoted to another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” This verse reminds me that I am called to put love into action by serving others and by serving the Lord, and I am excited to give up my Easter break this year to respond to that call. Our trip this year is March 29 - April 8, 2018, and this year will be the 8th mission team Oaks has sent to serve Heart of Hope Ministries in Romania. The Oaks team will spend the mornings distributing Easter care packages to 100’s of children living in local placement centers. After spending time at Camp of the Good Shepherd, the team will return to Turnu Rosu to provide the children with an afternoon of games, crafts, songs, and friendship.

By March 15, 2018, I need to raise $3250 to pay for all the expenses of the trip, and I have already been able to save a few hundred dollars through work. For the past two semesters, I have been working at Catalyst Coffee, the student-run coffee shop at Oaks Christian. The mission of Catalyst Coffee is to enable students to serve both the Oaks community and the global community. All money earned through Catalyst Coffee goes to fund student service trips; thus, when I work, my earnings go directly to my mission trip savings account. I am continuing to save for this trip throughout the rest of senior year, but I am also praying for people who will partner with me through prayer and financial assistance. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me for this mission trip to Romania?

Our team would greatly appreciate prayer for safety and health. Please also pray that as we seek to put love into action, that the Lord will continue to restore the hope of the people of Romania as they recover from years of communism. If you would like to support me financially, donating here on this website is incredibly easy—just the click of a button. However, if you would like to give a tax-deductible donation, please message me privately for more details.

I look forward to sharing with you my experiences from my time in Romania. Thank you so much for your prayers and support, and may God bless you.

Fondly,
Hannah Baldoz
