Hannah’s Commonwealth Games Dream

Hannah Martin, who trains at iStar Academy in West Sussex, is a multiple individual British junior champion who is just beginning her senior career. Amazingly, at just 15-years-old she is the youngest gymnast on the team and one of the youngest athletes competing for Team England.
Hannah Martin has been selected as just one of three Rhythmic Gymnasts to compete for and represent Team England at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in April.
With just a few weeks to go until the Games in Australia, Hannah is now intensively preparing for her Commonwealth debut at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.
Hannah's training, competitions, equipment and the majority of her travel is all entirely self funded so she relies on support from Friends & Family.
Specific Costs we need to cover in the run up and during the Commonwealth Games include:
Competition Costs
Gymnasts are required to participate in two competitions in the run up to the games.
Grazia Cup, Budapest, Hungary international competition: £986
British Open Competition, Stoke-on-Trent: £160 (inc. hotel and travel)
Equipment:
Specialist equipment specific to Rhythmic Gymnasts. Gymnasts are requied to have spare equipment also in case of breakages.
New Leotards x 3: £1200
Rhythmic Balls x 2: £160
Hoops x 2: £80
Clubs x 2 pairs: £100
Ribbons/sticks x 2: £100
Toe Shoes x 20: £400 (approx £20 each)
Coaching Costs
Hannah trains at iStar club in Shoreham by Sea and also pays for private coaching by former Olympic Rythmic Gymnast, Lynne Hutchinson.
£300 per month

“It’s a real dream come true, it’s something I’ve been dreaming for for a long time and I’ve worked so hard for it and I can’t believe it’s happened for me. I just need to work really hard now and when I’m there it’s all about showing my best and doing my country proud. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere and the pride of competing for my country is something I can’t describe.”
