Hannah's Battle with TTP

On June 20, 2017 Hannah Woodring was transported to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening blood disorder called acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP). Hannah is currently 19 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. She is surrounded by loving family members as well as her supportive boyfriend and baby girl's daddy, Tim Walker. On day 1 at Emory, Hannah received platelets and red blood cells as her levels were dangerously low. Her current treatment plan includes daily plasmapheresis/ plasma exchange, where her damaged plasma is exchanged with undamaged plasma (similar to dialysis) as well as steroids to best increase survival for her and baby. Hannah and baby girl are fighters, but they are not completely out of the woods yet. At this time, their prognosis is good, but each day brings new challenges as TTP is a medical emergency. Her length of stay at Emory and recovery time are unknown at this time. Doctors have suggested that she may be hospitalized until she delivers her baby.
