Hannah running Leeds Marathon for Team EVO MND
Donation protected
Hi, this is Hannah, on the 12th May I’ll be running the Rob Burrows Marathon in Leeds.
After reflecting on my first half marathon last year, I felt the desire to do more to fundraise for Team Evo and the Darby Rimmer foundation. This determination led me to sign up for the Rob Burrows Marathon in Leeds.
My motivation is supporting Pete in his fight against MND (Motor Neurone Disease) and raising
awareness until a cure is found. Pete Eveleigh (Team Evo/Mind over MND) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in November 2022. Pete is a father to Oliver, 3, and the husband of Jess, who is my cousin and close friend.
For those unfamiliar, Motor Neurone Disease is a terminal illness affecting the brain and nerves, currently without a known cause or cure.
The Rob Burrows Marathon felt like the perfect
opportunity, joining 10,000 other runners to raise funds and awareness for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease and their families.
The night before my half marathon, Pete messaged me to wish me luck and shared advice from his own half marathon experiences — it's all about mind over matter, or as we now phrase it…
“MIND OVER MND”.
Whenever I need extra motivation, I think back to this message and remind myself, IT'S MIND OVER MND.
Funds raised will support #TeamEvo for medical costs, equipment, home adjustments, and future life experiences for Pete and his family, as well as the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, which
conducts crucial research toward finding a cure and provides valuable support to those battling MND.
Any support will be deeply appreciated.
Many Thanks
Hannah
