<div>Beste mensen, mijn naam is Hannah en ik ben 23 jaar oud. Momenteel zit ik in het laatste jaar van mijn studie Social Work aan de Hogeschool Leiden. Vanaf begin februari 2026 ga ik als minor 5 maanden vrijwilligerswerk in Midden- en Zuid-Amerika uitvoeren.

<div>Ik begin mijn werk bij de stichting El Manguaré in Iquitos, Peru. Daar ga ik meewerken aan het project 'Ik besta!', dat de armste gezinnen in de regio praktische hulp biedt bij de inschrijving van hun kinderen op school en het volgen van lessen. Vervolgens reis ik door naar de stichting Give &amp; Surf in Panama, die afgelegen eilandgemeenschappen ondersteunt bij onderwijs- en ontwikkelingsgerichte programma’s.

<div><em>Waarom vind ik het belangrijk om hier vrijwilligerswerk te doen?</em>
</div>
<div>Ik leg in mijn studie Social Work de focus op het werken met kinderen en gezinnen waar het leven net even anders loopt. Zo heb ik in mijn eerdere werkervaring veel te maken gehad met kinderen met een psychiatrische achtergrond, zoals autisme (ASS) en ADHD, emotieregulatie- en hechtingsproblematiek.

<div><em>Waar gaat het opgebrachte geld naartoe?</em>
</div>
<div>Beide organisaties zijn non-profitorganisaties, waardoor ze hun geld voornamelijk uit donaties halen. Reizen naar deze kant van de wereld is niet goedkoop, maar dat bedrag heb ik zelf al opgespaard. Het geld dat gedoneerd wordt via deze pagina gaat dan ook naar de organisaties zelf. Zo kun je deze organisaties (en mij) rechtstreeks helpen en samen (letterlijk) bouwen aan een betere toekomst voor deze gezinnen. Ik zou het enorm waarderen als jullie iets willen bijdragen voor dit belangrijke werk, daarvoor hartelijk dank!

Met projecten op het gebied van onderwijs, gezondheid en gemeenschapsontwikkeling bouwen ze samen aan een betere toekomst. Ze geloven dat ieder kind recht heeft op kansen om te leren, te groeien en een hoopvolle toekomst op te bouwen.

</div>
<div>Give &amp; Surf ondersteunt sinds 2011 afgelegen eilandgemeenschappen in Bocas del Toro met onderwijs en lokale ontwikkelingsprojecten. Ze bieden gratis kinderopvang, Engelse lessen, naschoolse activiteiten en studiebeurzen aan, en bouwen klaslokalen en speelplekken. Zo krijgen kinderen en jongeren meer kansen op een betere toekomst, midden in hun eigen gemeenschap.
