Hanna Magiera, 7 - brain tumor

Donation protected
UPDATED 9/24/17, SEE BELOW:
Hania, only 7 year-old girl from Krakow, Poland, has been diagnosed with the brain stem tumor. Unfortunately, not only is her cancer malignant and inoperable, but the worst fact is that the contemporary medicine does not offer any conventional treatment that would guarantee cure.

The hope for Hania is the expensive experimental therapy consisting of the monoclonal antibodies 124I-8H9 inoculation. The doctors from the New York cancer hospital (Memorial Sloan Kettering), who have suggested this treatment, are ready to start the fight for Hania's life as soon as early September.

9/24/17 Update
Dear Donors and Supporters,
I wanted to notify you that the wire of $5006.69, which is the collected fund after subtracting the administrative fees by GoFundMe was successful.
All money was transferred to JP Morgan Chase, which is the bank of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer (International) Center. Their account number is CHASUS33 #134687132.
The confirmation number of the wire transfer is 5024032544 and will be posted on 9/25/17.
On behalf of Hanna (Hania) and her family, we would like to thank EVERYONE from the bottom of our hearts, for contributing and sharing the message of need.
Your sincerely
Slawomir and Justyna Marecik

9/7/17 update

Dear Donors, Supporters and Friends!
I spoke to Magdalena less than an hour ago.
The procedure of catheter implantation went very well!
Magdalena has been staying with Hanna in the ICU overnight. Hania (a nickname for Hanna) is there mainly for observation. If everything goes well they will start the infusion of the medication (immuno-agent) tonight.
The plan for the family, if everything is going well, is to stay in NYC for 4 weeks for a close follow up. As far as Magdalena knows, this will include frequent MRI and PET scans.
We are keeping our fingers crossed!

Now, the second part of the update:
Our GFM campaign has raised $5,455 as for today. The gratest news is that for now Hania's therapy and the close follow-up are fully funded. The rest of the money has been collected by several other platforms across the world.
On behalf of Hania's Family I really want to express my sincere gratitude for everyone's support!

The third part of the update (a bit stressful for me) is what is going to happen now with the funds. Out of $5,455 our campaign collected, $5006.69 is available for transfer to the Memorial Sloan Kettering account, after subtracting the administrative costs of GoFundMe Portal. There is no available way to have GFM transfer the money directly to MSK account. They need a physical person (administrator) to do it. I am assuming the role of the administrator. I requested that $5006.69 will be transfered on my personal account. As soon as the money is received by me I will transfer it to MSK account and subsequently post the transaction number on this website.
AS FOR NOW I WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE OUR CAMPAIGN.
I will keep everyone updated as for the progress of Hania's treatment and hopefully her cure from glioblastoma multiforme tumor. We are keeping her in our hearts as well as all the patients, little and adult, with GBM tumors. One day, this nasty cancer will be no more.
Thank you again for Everyone's wonderful engagement

8/31/17 update
Dear Donors and Supporters,
First of all, thank you VERY, VERY MUCH for your ongoing help.
Hanna and her parents Magdalena and Jan arrived in New York yesterday. I am awaiting for more details to share with you. Everything I know is they were offered a place to stay by a kind gentleman who is a pilot. What a kindness by strangers!
I just reached out to the GoFundMe management team asking them to transfer all the funds we have collected so far directly to the account of MSKCC (International Center) under Hanna's name and medical record 35573072.
If GoFundMe is not able to transfer the money directly, then I will ask them to send the check to me so I could deposit it on the MSKCC account.
Dr. Mark Souweidane is one of the doctors who crafted the treatment plan for Hanna.
I would like to stress out the fact, that our fundraiser is for Hanna, but it is NOT ONLY for Hanna. Her treatment is an experimental immunotherapy for a very aggressive brain stem cancer called GBM (glioblastoma multiforme). It is very likely that you know or have known someone with that nasty disease. We are still in search for a therapy that will be able to kill this tumor. Immunotherapy is very promising and a lot of smart people believe it will be the key to win this battle in the near future.
And finally, in order to fulfill the transparency requirements of GFM portal: I am Slawomir Marecik, surgeon from Chicago, fundraising with my wife Justyna for Hanna Magiera, who is a daughter of my friends Magdalena and Dr. Jan Magiera (ER doc from Poland). The funds will go directly for Hanna's treatment: Protocol 11-011 Surgery with First Month Follow Up
To All of You, Thank You Again for Your Support and Sharing This Message,
Keep that fire burning

8/24/17
Dear Supporters and Donors,
A quick update. First of all, the arrangements for starting Hania's therapy are in process. The goal is to have Hania in New York in the next 2-3 weeks. As soon as we have more info we will post it. Secondly, I take it on me to pass to you the immense gratitude the family would like to express for your donations, for sharing the message, prayers and spiritual support. Thirdly, please KEEP THE FIRE GOING and make the MAGIC CONTINUE. Any funds collected here and on other platforms are going directly to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in New York. This institution is on the forefront of cancer therapy. Sooner or later, I am 100% convinced, the cure for this nasty type of brain stem cancer will be found. We are hoping for Hania's cure. Any funds there are left will go into more research and help for other individuals at need.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT,
Slawomir & Justyna

8/22/17:
Dear Supporters and Donors,
A quick update. I just spoke to Hania's parents - Magdalena and Jan. They were in tears.
We have very good news in regards to our crowd funding campaign, which is taking place on multiple fronts. As for now, the campaign collected the required minimum $150K in just 5 days! The family and friends could not believe it! However, we have to remember, that the $150K was an estimate, given by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, to cover the initiation costs of the therapy. Hania will start it, but what happens next is still an uncharted territory. We need to be prepared for anything e.g. ICU stay, further intervention, etc. Being a physician myself, I have a strong feeling that more treatment will be needed with that type of cancer.
Please, KEEP that FIRE GOING! If Hania doesn't need the funds, we will pass it to another kid in need.
On behalf of Hania's Family
Thank you VERY, VERY MUCH!
Slawomir and Justyna Marecik
