Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey has left Houston and many other areas of Texas in a state of disbelief, despair & destruction including members of my own family. My name is Shawna Hankinson & I live in the suburbs of Houston, TX. This area of the city was mostly affected by the relases of water from the reservoirs due to them filling so fast over a short period of time.
My mom's house was flooded by the Addicks Reservoir releases in Houston. Along with getting over 18" of rain inside her house, ruining everything in her garage and the first floor of the house, her car, my sisters car & my uncle's truck were flooded out. When she contacted her homeowners insurance they informed her that her policy DOES NOT cover damages caused by flooding.
My mom is devastated over the damages to the house and the cars. I know it is going to cost her a great deal to repair the house, pay for temporary living quarters & replace the lost vehicles and things that make a house a home. My mom is always helping everyone else, she is always the one who stands strong and is the backbone of our family. She is not only there for me & my sisters but she is like a second mom to MANY of our friends. I know we may not make the goal that is set, but anything that helps to relieve some of the stress and pressure weighing her down right now I know will mean a lot to her!
Donations will be used for repairs, replacements, loss of wages, temporary living quarters, temporary transportation & all other costs associated with the destruction caused by the flooding of Tropical Storm Harvey and the Addicks Reservoir Releases. I personally will be withdrawing the donations and they will be put into an account that my mom will have full access to as well as a debit card to use the funds as stated above.
