Hands at Work

Tax deductible
Our goal instead of getting gifts for our wedding is to raise money for rebuilding a bathroom at a care point in South Africa.

What is a care point? A care point is more than the building. It is what happens when a community has access. Care is the provision of what is necessary for health, welfare, and the protection of someone or something. Hands started with building relationships and providing three essential services: food, support of education, and basic healthcare. Yet, when children and families are welcomed into these care points they receive so much more than the basics. Care points bring life, support, fellowship in communities, and allow people to feel they are cared for. Children and their families are able to be seen, heard, know, and valued as individuals. When we support them we are able to participate in community with them and help provide vital services to the community.

Why bathrooms?

Safety and security are words that come to mind. Some children and their families do not have access to a safe bathroom space. This can lead them to seek places of privacy, sometimes leading them to areas where they could be in a vulnerable situation. By having a safe, functional bathroom vulnerable situations can be reduced.
