Hamric Family Relief Fund

My name is Brent Newman and I'm from Lone Grove, Oklahoma, but my wife is from a small town called Santa Fe, Texas. This past week has caused massive damage to a family that has brought me into their family as one of their own sons. When I married their daughter, her father told me, "I'm not losing a daughter, I'm gaining a son."

In the wake of one of the worst natural disasters in US history, I am asking for help for my mother and father-in-law. They are not the type of people to ask for help, especially when so many others are also in such a bad situation. They are wonderful, loving people who are going through an awful situation right now. I set up this fund to try to give back to them, show them that their family, friends, and community care, and that they deserve help even if they aren't willing to ask for it.
Due to flooding, which has never happened in their area, the roof took massive flooding from unstable trees with heavy leaves across the house. Most of the house took massive damage including a bedroom, bathroom, and some surrounding walls. The increased rains caused rushing flooding which damaged the porch and front door wall.
My mother-in-law, Candace, (58) underwent knee surgery two weeks ago, and will need to have multiple surgeries on her hands very soon.
Jerry, my father-in-law (65), retired from UHCL in January, where he worked to help graduate and post-graduate students write their theses.

Candace and Jerry, and their four children, have lived in their community since 1992 and are well known and well established there.
They have been relying on Social Security and supplemented income up to this point, but with recent and upcoming surgeries, for both Jerry and Candace, and the devastation to their home, it will not be enough to recover their losses.
I am trying to gather every resource we can to help them cover, first and foremost, Candace's medical expenses. Anything else will be used to help them demolish and replace their home. With the amount of tragedy and destruction than Harvey has brought, FEMA may not be able to supply them with enough to rebuild. Anything that can be spared to help get them back on their feet and in a livable situation will be graciously welcome, and gladly accepted. Thank you.
