Hampers for Homelessness
Donation protected
Short of a Sheet is a grassroots community organisation based in Southern Tasmania, whose primary aims are to provide support and resources to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
This Holiday Season we are hoping to create gift hampers to give to people experiencing homelessness within the nipaluna/Hobart region. They will be filled with daily essentials such as socks and jocks, toiletries, grocery gift cards, and transport vouchers.
The holiday season can be a challenging time for people, especially when they are already struggling with the absence of safe shelter. We aim to provide a secular, person-centred service with as few barriers to support as possible. We do this by meeting people where they are, communicating with them to identify and then adress their current needs and by offering support without preliminary obstacles to get through.
We are hoping to raise $2000 which will allow us to make up 40 hampers to distribute to those doing it tough in our community, to make thier lives a little more comfortable.
As we are a fully volunteer led, independent and secular organisation, we have no funding other than what is raised through fundraising efforts. This means your donations are not only vital to Short of a Sheet's continued operation but really very much appreciated by us and our community members.
