Hamdy's Wheelchair Accessible Van

Dear Friends,
Some of you may or may not know, that I was on the receiving end of a ‘GoFundMe Page’ not too long ago when my dad died and I couldn’t afford to attend his funeral. It meant the world to me to be able to fly back home to England to see my family, and the memory of the kindness and love that was shown to me through generous donations – from not only people I knew, but complete strangers; it still warms my heart today.
For those who know Hamdy and Isabelle no introduction is really necessary, so this is for those who do not yet know them:
I first met both Hamdy and Isabelle before they were dating during my Youth with a Mission days (YWAM). For several years I shared a mobile home with other ladies which included Isabelle. Hamdy (from Egypt) and Isabelle (from France) got to know each other during their missionary days on the YWAM base and eventually got married. Hamdy was a very strong leader in the YWAM community with a wonderful sense of humor and fun loving demeanor.
As you will see from the details that Isabelle shares, life took a very unexpected turn for them. Through the years all who know Isabelle has seen her remain strong and faithful to Hamdy and selflessly care for him, all the while being the only bread-winner in the family. She has truly lived out the marriage vows of “in sickness and in health” with so much grace and beauty, and always with a smile.
As you read Isabelle’s story below and their need for a new wheelchair-accessible van, you will see that God has blessed them with twins fourteen years ago -- which means this van has seen a lot of action over its fifteen years . Would you prayerfully consider giving financially towards this need, and blessing this precious family? They so deserves it!
In Isabelle’s words:
'Hamdy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2000, 2 ½ years after we got married. His health has progressively declined since then. He has been wheelchair bound for many years and has lost the ability to move his limbs and speak. We have two beautiful 14 year-old twins that keep us busy with school, church and other youth activities. Our wheelchair-accessible van is now 15 years old with almost 200,000 miles, and even our mechanic who has worked on it many hours over the years agrees that it is time to replace it. The transmission was rebuilt twice and a few other things are not working properly including the ramp. This van has served us well as it is our only vehicle. We use it for going to school, going to work, to medical appointments, church, family outings, etc. … With only one income, our finances are tight and I have postponed a visit to a specialized dealership as long as possible, afraid to know the cost of a new van.'
I believe a new wheelchair-accessible van will cost in the region of $30K. Of course, we would love that someone would find it in their heart to just GIVE them a new or new’ish van but in the meantime let’s start at $5,000!!!
