Union Square Park
14th Street @ Park Ave. South & Broadway
New York City
Haamed French Gray began “HamDay” on August 28, 2010. On his 21st birthday, his gift to himself was to give to others. “HamDay” is now continued as a day of giving gifts to the homeless and people in-need. Haamed would say, “They have birthdays too; this is their gift from me!” His mantra was it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice!
Haamed, worked as Assistant Store Manager, for the Glendale (Queens) HomeGoods store and was a talented, driven, and loving young man who is greatly missed! To continue Haamed’s legacy, we will walk the streets of NYC and give gifts to the homeless/people-in-need on Sunday, August 27 at 11:00 AM. Haamed’s Spirit will be with us as we help, in some small way, people less fortunate, in honor of “HamDay”.
The route will begin at Union Square Park on 14th Street. We will travel Broadway to Madison Square Park on 23rd Street, then to 34th Street, Herald Square. We hope to have enough supplies to end at 42nd Street/Bryant Park. As Haamed would say, “there are times supplies run out before you get to the end”; we will do our best!
Other groups and individuals are celebrating “HamDay” on August 28th in their own way; there’s no wrong way, as long as you Giveaway! Let’s all post pictures, and use the same hashtag #HAMDAY to keep everyone up-to-date as we continue Hammed’s legacy and create awareness for the homeless.
Haamed’s family thanks you tremendously for your support! We hope you will join us on “HamDay”. We would appreciate contributions to the GoFundMe account gofundme.com/2jqhr6c to purchase undergarments, tee shirts, food and water.
After losing Haamed to an unexplainable cardiac arrest on June 18, 2016, we will all remember, and honor him by celebrating “HamDay” for the rest of our lives – his father Marion Gray said “he was truly the Best!
