Halle Fletcher is a beautiful, fun and loving 8 year old girl. She loves animals, unicorns, going on adventures with the family and playing with her big Sister Jasmine. In December 2018, Halle started to have issues with her eyesight. After an MRI scan at Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital, Halle was diagnosed with DIPG, an inoperable, rare brain tumour that sits on the central part of the brain that controls breathing, walking, talking, swallowing and sight. There is currently no cure for this type of tumour. This fun loving, energetic girl has gone from running around to at times being unable to talk and walk properly. As you can only imagine to Halle’s parents, Katie and Steven, their whole world fell apart.
In Feb she was rushed into A&E at Alder Hey as she developed breathing problems and ended up in Intensive care for 3 days with doctors not knowing how or if she would come out of it, but thankfully she did. Halle has since finished 6 weeks radiotherapy as that was the only option to help relieve symptoms which has been tough on her, but she is the strongest 8 year old ever and has shocked the doctors and her family with her strength, she keeps fighting and somehow even manages to laugh and smile. The family stay positive every day for her and keep praying for a miracle.
The pain this family is going through is just unbearable to see. Yet, the positivity, strength, tenacity and courage that Katie and Steven have is phenomenal. They have to keep smiling for Halle, but watching their little girl go through this is heart wrenching. They whole heartedly believe that a miracle can happen and we are all hoping for the same. All they want is for their little girl to be back to normal.
Halle stopped walking a few weeks back, needing a wheel chair. This last week however this amazing little girl managed to start walking slightly again. The brave little girl is a fighter and Halle has a list of dreams that she wants to achieve whilst she is still mobile. I’m therefore hoping to raise money for Halle to help Halle and the family spend as much time together creating everlasting memories over the next few months.
Those that know Steven and Katie you’ll know how the girls are the centre of their world. They work tirelessly to give Halle and Jasmine the best childhood possible and this fund will make sure they get some amazing times together and if any opportunities for further treatment arise they can be prepared. I have set the fund at £10 due to the fact I know the family wouldn’t like me setting targets, but I want to raise as much as possible.
