Halifax ReTales 10th Anniversary

Tax deductible
10 years, wow!

In March of 2011, I had a serious break in my mental health and almost made a final decision, I'm glad I didn't make it. I was in denial. I didn't think "that" affected me, but I suffered from depression for years, as well as a couple of learning disabilities.

I just kept my emotions bottled up and kept pushing them down.
Then I broke!

With some work, I could finally accept it was okay not to be okay!

Part of my healing was to put positive ideas out there and connect with my community. I had always had a curiosity for what is opening and closing it was our small talk in a group of friends. I thought if we enjoy it maybe others will too.

So, on January 16, 2012, I set up a Twitter account and tweeted "Welcome to Retail updates around the HRM" and Halifax ReTales was born. I was hoping to have 500 followers someday.

It has been so rewarding. I have met so many fantastic people that make up the fabric of HRM.

ReTales has grown so much a total following of over 125k across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
I have been producing a weekly blog post every Sunday recapping the highlights of the week for nearly 7 years. As well as sending out in a weekly email. 3 years ago I also started writing a weekly column in The Chronicle Herald as well.

It has always remained free

and now...
here is my ask
If you value Halifax ReTales and the decade of work I have put in to get people engaged in HRM or made your life a little more fun, helping you discover something that you now consider a favourite.

I ask you to help others find comfort in their mental health and say thank you to me by donating to the Mental Health Foundation Of Nova Scotia.

Thanks for being part of my journey, and thanks Halifax for being such a great inspiration.

Love Arthur
