Half Marathon for Hartstichting

*Due to the amazing support received, we passed our goal of €750 and will now be aiming for the skies with €1500!*
My Dad passed away on the 12th of September 2018 after a few weeks of severe health struggles, with a variety of issues resulting finally in heart failure. Since then, I have battled with my grief, through denial, distraction and more. I still am unable to fully face my grief, to allow my body and mind to fully experience it, and instead continue to wait for his return.
Then one day when I returned to my lowest place, I had a realisation. Whilst I still cannot come to terms with never seeing my Dad again, I can try my best to ensure that someone else does not suffer in this way. That another girl does not lose her Daddy.
There are many unknown causes of heart failure, making almost each case unique and harder to cure. The Hartstichting is currently investing in two key aspects, the earlier recognition of heart failure and stem cell research to reverse heart failure. These are both areas that could have helped my Dad, or at least given him more time.
€750 will not change the world, I am very aware of that. But that money is a start, it is a few steps forward in a long battle. I will be running the Utrecht Half Marathon to try and raise these funds for the Hartstichting, to begin the journey.
