Hailey - Road to Recovery

Hailey is a 17 year-old College student who just started her first semester taking pre-requisite courses for nursing. August 26, 2018, was when the horrible car accident happened and Hailey suffered a traumatic brain injury/fracture where she then developed severe bleeding and blood clots in her brain. She was rushed to the nearest Trauma Medical Center for emergency surgery where the surgeon had to do Craniectomy (a surgery is done to remove part of the skull in order to relieve pressure in that area when the brain swells). She was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after the surgery, where she was having fevers, multiple seizures, and received massive blood transfusions almost daily. She then had to go through another surgery to get more blood clots out. Hailey was placed on a breathing machine as she was unable to breathe on her own. She has an Orogastric tube (a tube inserted down the throat straight to the stomach) where she gets her feedings and medications because she is not awake and alert enough to follow commands. Her electrolytes are low, specifically her potassium and magnesium which have been replaced almost everyday now. She is on multiple IV medication drips.

      Hailey is headstrong and is a fighter, and she will find the power and strength in her to fight her way through this traumatic situation.
