Supporting Women and Children in Crisis

Malo e lelei and warm Pacific greetings,

My name is Dr. Maryanne Pale, I am of Tongan ethnicity, and I currently reside in Victoria, Australia. After seeing the news reports of the devastating impact of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcanic eruption and the tsunami in the Kingdom of Tonga on 15th January 2022, as well as hearing directly from my extended family members in Tonga of their experiences of this catastrophe, I was moved to find a way to support the relief and recovery efforts, particularly for the vulnerable women and children in Tonga. As such, this fundraiser has been organised to seek donations in support of the work that Tonga's Women and Children Crisis Centre (WCCC) are currently implementing on the ground.

The WCCC was established by the Director, 'Ofa-ki-Levuka Guttenbeil-Likiliki, as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in 2009, with the aim to advocate for women and children, human rights, and work towards the prevention of domestic violence. The WCCC provides counseling, refuge, and advocacy for vulnerable women and children in Tonga. At such a time, the need to urgently respond to trauma and provide essential aid in the community is crucial. Your support will be greatly appreciated, and it will make a world of difference for the women and children in crisis.

All donations that will be received on this Go Fund Me page will go to Tonga's Women and Children Crisis Centre (WCCC) to help provide water, food, hygiene packs, and essential household items, as well as emergency advocacy, counseling and refuge for vulnerable women and children.

If this is a cause that you would like to support, I would like to humbly extend an invitation for you to make a donation, and to share this Go Fund Me page with your close contacts.

Updates will be posted here so please feel free to also follow this Go Fund Me page.

Thank you in advance for your time, consideration and support. Malo 'aupito, 'ofa atu moe lotu.
