Golden Buddha Temple Pavilion
We invite you to share in the merit of building our new Golden Buddha Temple Pavilion!
The names of all donors will be listed and displayed inside the new pavilion.
Our pavilion is designed to house a beautiful 2 metre golden statue of Buddha Shakyamuni which was donated to our centre in 1999. When the image arrived it was placed on a large platform and housed in a temporary surrounding glass shelter for protection. We are only now in a position to commence construction of an architect designed dedicated temple space which will house the beautiful and unique Buddha image. The design includes large fold away glass doors allowing the Buddha to be easily viewed from the surrounding gardens during outdoor events.

ABOUT THE BUDDHIST DISCUSSION CENTRE AUSTRALIA
The Buddhist Discussion Centre was founded in 1978 as a not-for-profit, self-help organisation. Located in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia, we are a home grown Australian Buddhist Temple, teaching from the main schools of Buddhism: Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana and Chan or Zen.
Our Centre offers weekly Dhamma classes, free of charge. Our classes are suitable for beginners through to experienced practitioners. In addition to weekly classes, we hold several retreats throughout the year. Each Sunday we present the Buddhist Hour radio show on 3MDR, 97.1FM, and we also broadcast World Buddhist Radio 24/7 online.
We are a non-sectarian temple and embrace all of Buddha’s teachings. Over the years many great monks, nuns and scholars have come from all over the world, from many traditions, to visit and give teachings and blessings at our Centre. We continue in the style and vision of our founder to help the Buddha Sasana, to spread the Dhamma, to support the Sangha and we welcome those who wish to learn and practice the Buddhist path.
Our Centre is an associated institution of the World Buddhist University and our multilingual reference library houses a collection of over four thousands books for Buddha Dhamma Scholars and Practitioners.
OFFERING SUPPORT TO THOSE IN NEED
As part of our activities, the Buddhist Discussion Centre Australia has raised money to support the Dharmarajika Orphanage in Dhaka, Bangladesh for nearly 30 years, and we are contributing approximately AUD$7,000 per annum to help care for and educate approximately 500 children who reside there. We have sent secondhand laptops, digital projectors and many cartons of stationary to a disadvantaged school in the Philippines. We also support local organisations such as collecting money and Christmas gifts for donation to a local refuge for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
