Fundraising Effort for a Hardworking Single Mom
Imagine having a dream within reach, only to be blindsided by something beyond your control. This is a fundraising effort for a local Tucson woman to purchase property to help build her dream of giving back to her community through animal therapy.

Some of you may know Emily Haddon from GOT Yoga, Goats of Tucson Yoga classes. But what you don’t know is that behind her beautiful smile and bright green eyes, is a brave, single mom who is struggling with a genetic disorder known as Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID*). Most of us have the right number of antibodies to fight off and survive any major flu, illness or infection, and some can go years without getting sick. CVID prevents Emily’s body from producing enough antibodies and requires her to have weekly IV infusions. She also has to take many medications to manage the side effects of the infusions. Without the infusions, Emily’s life would be in grave danger. In addition, she deals with other health challenges each day including fibromyalgia, endometriosis and gastro paresis. The coronavirus outbreak has caused her dreams, including future GOT Yoga classes, to be put on hold while her health is at high risk.

Each day, Emily wakes up not knowing at what level she will be able to function. This alone drives her to live like each day is her last, doing her best to improve herself and working very hard to stay healthy. The most difficult thing for Emily has been giving her daughter a sense of home and security because of her health limitations and low income.

Having the inability to fight off the sickness affects her ability to earn money and provide for her daughter. The monthly infusions cost up to $30,000 but thankfully disability insurance covers this cost. It does not however, provide enough income to cover her and her daughter’s monthly living expenses. Emily wants to contribute to society and has found a way to do so through the GOT Yoga classes. She was able to live off of the extra income from the classes for nearly a year, until the coronavirus outbreak and resulting quarantine orders happened. Her doctors have yet to release her to resume classes. Unfortunately, this has jeopardized her financial stability and ability to maintain a status quo with her health.

To say this disease has turned her life upside down would be an understatement. Despite all the challenges, Emily is determined to live life, raise her daughter and help others.

That’s where Haddonstone Farms comes in.

Emily wants to help people who struggle with some of life’s most pressing issues including depression, anxiety, and physical ailments by providing them with the tools to move forward and live their best life. Emily’s passion, Haddonstone Farms, would provide people with the necessary support using animal therapy. This would include yoga classes, farm visits and workshops.

Not only will it provide stable income for Emily and her daughter, but it will provide a positive impact on the Tucson community, who needs something like this more than ever. The volunteer-based farm will provide partnership and internship opportunities with local organizations. This will allow for many people in the community to find a place that will provide a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves.

Here’s how you can help!

Your special gift today will support Emily to achieve her goal of providing a place of refuge for Tucsonans through animal therapy! As she continues to fight CVID, your gift will also go a long way in helping to provide a solid source of income and stability for her and her daughter.

*This disease is wholly unrelated to Covid-19.
