Hackney Community Food Hub - CHRISTMAS APPEAL

*** UPDATE - We have reached our target! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our campaign this Christmas, we are a very small charity so this means a great deal. We are going to keep the GoFundMe page open into 2021 - any funds raised in excess of our target will go directly towards securing a permanent home. ***

The Hackney Community Food Hub was founded by Children with Voices (charity number 1191018) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We provide regular food packages and other essential items to the elderly, the homeless and families in need.

Since March, we have supported over 600 people per week, providing over 50,000 free meals. This Christmas, we want to go further.

We are raising money to extend our reach, supporting more people in need this Christmas and establishing a permanent home in the heart of Hackney so we can continue our work into 2021.

The Community Food Hub manages food banks across Hackney, collecting surplus food from businesses and supermarkets and packaging this up for collection. Ready meals, hot food, fresh fruit and vegetables, sweet treats and other essential items, we provide support to anyone who needs it, no questions asked.

Not everyone who needs support can come to the hubs so... we also do deliveries! Homeless shelters, nursing homes and right to people’s front doors, we make sure the elderly, shielding and vulnerable feel looked after and appreciated - and that they get to see a friendly face!

Our incredible team of volunteers can be found cooking up meals, running the hubs or delivering the packages around Hackney. Walk, cycle, drive - rain or shine - you can come to us, or we’ll come to you.

At the peak of lockdown we were running seven different hubs across Hackney, seven days a week. We now run four hubs, providing 150+ food packages each week with no regular public funding.

With lockdown continuing and Christmas on the horizon, we’re preparing for demand to surge again. Your help will mean we will be able to support those most in need over this festive season and into 2021.

If you, or anyone you know in Hackney would benefit from receiving one of the above packages or regular food deliveries please reach out to us - childrenwithvoices [at] outlook.com / 07402 799 402.
