Kicking Cancer with the Chmelyk's

Dan had his first bout with melanoma back in 2003 when he was just 23. Luckily, with surgery on his leg and a few months recovery time he healed well. Last Thanksgiving was when his first brain tumor was discovered after being rushed to the emergency room. He was in brain surgery the very next day. One month later he had half of his right lung removed due to another malignant tumor. While he was recovering from this, just one month later, a new brain tumor had rapidly formed. This caused a seizure on Christmas day, another trip to the E.R. and multiple fractures down his spine. He had his second brain operation at the beginning of January followed closely by two weeks of radiation on his head. Needless to say, Dan was off of work for many months dealing with these health issues. However, he recovered, returned to a normal life, and was looking forward to getting married. Dan and Delaine were wed September 25th of this year. Two weeks later they were informed that the metastatic melanoma had returned in his small intestines and would need yet another surgery. At this point in time he is in the hospital awaiting this surgery and will be off of work for multiple months. Unfortunately, this will be an ongoing battle as it is a generic disorder making him prone to this disease. The Chmelyk's are ready to fight cancer for a 5th time, along side their supportive family and friends, and are patiently waiting for their happily ever after.
