Kings Point Park is under threat of destruction.
Save Kings Point Park is a grassroots group led by your neighbors, united to protect this beautiful park from destruction. The Village of Kings Point at the request of the Great Neck Park District asked Senator Martins and Assemblyman Norber to pass legislation to alienate (remove as parkland) 2.5 acres of Kings Point Park so that a private group could turn it into a parking lot. The Village ignored the law and determined there would not be a significant impact to the environment based upon incomplete, misleading and erroneous information.
This irreplaceable land includes wetlands, a sanctuary for wildlife, over one hundred year old trees, a walking trial, playground, basketball court, picnic area and is a place for serenity and for community gatherings. Once this land is lost it can never be replaced.
We cannot stand by and let this happen. That’s why we are urgently fundraising to file a lawsuit to stop this destruction. Together, we can protect Kings Point Park and preserve it for future generations.
