Shelly's Breast Cancer Journey

Shelly was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma "Breast Cancer" on Oct. 14, 2014 at the age of 34. She is married to her supportive and loving husband Josh, and they have 3 boys Brendon 14, Zachery 8 and Elijah 4 years old. She has been at Baptist Health for the last 10 years working in Primary Care, Urgent Care, Wound Care, and Women's Care as a Registered Nurse. The Devasher's are members of Church in the Rock in Berea, KY. Shelly is a woman of faith and has kept a positive attitude since her diagnosis. She keeps a smile on her face and is an encouragement to everyone. Her faith is strong and she has a great support team of family and friends. Unfortunately Shelly does not have short-term disability or any PTO while being off work during her treatment. She had a Bilateral Mastectomy on November 5th and began chemotherapy on Dec. 3rd. She will undergo 6 months of chemo treatments. She will have an additional surgery about 3 months after her Chemo is completed once her immune system recovers.
