Ten Pharmacy Long Beach Riot Recovery Fund

Donation protected
We stand up against social injustice and help others in need. Following the peaceful protest in Long Beach, CA, came the onslaught of terror, fire, and riots through downtown stores owned by minority business owners.

Ten Pharmacy, our community store, who has been here the last 5 years, was the victim of the heinous acts of violence. At 7:05pm 5/31/20, 30-40 opportunists stormed the store, broke through metal gates and boarded barriers with knives, guns, and crowbars to loot, vandalize, destroy, and light on fire, the entire store. From food supplies to life saving medications for people in the community, was stolen and damaged. This not only affects the store, but the entire community of Long Beach.

The minority business owner came to Long Beach in 1980 as a child and grew up on Elm Street in Downtown Long Beach. As a boy, Luke would go thru dumpsters to find things he can use for his family. After graduating from Poly High School, he went to UCLA and then attended graduate school to be a Pharmacist.  Years later, he started this business with his wife and four kids to give back to the community that helped him make his home. His parents lost everything they had, except for the shirt on their backs, almost exactly 40 years ago, and now, the same tragedy unfolded again for him. This store barely broke even month after month, but as long as he had enough to employ his staff, he kept it going; he wanted the community to have a place for their needs.

The store has a long road ahead to recover and must start back at ground zero.  We are a community and UNITED we stand. The tidal wave of love and support from the community will help!

I am an employee of this store and the owners, Luke & Jackie, have done a lot for me. They gave me a job during a time when it has been so hard for people to find work. They believe in me as an individual, looking past my flaws and only want me to see my true potential. Their loving kindness is manifested in always working toward making things better for our community and the staff to reach their true potential in life. I believe that it is only right that I try to do something that would help rebuild the community store that has made such a huge difference in all of us.

The funds will be used to build and restore a community presence at this location from the ground up and to help our team members of the company who are mostly minorities of color (African American, Latino, Asian) who are out of work.

We are dedicated to rebuilding the Long Beach community and restore faith in our cultural beacons.

God Bless America.
