Brian Thomas' Children's Fundraiser

Donation protected
On August 22nd, 2014 the world lost a very funny and dedicated man that we all know as Brian Thomas.  Brian was always one of the first people to step up to the plate when someone needed help whether he knew that person himself, or if it was a complete stranger. He was a First Responder to the Avianca airplane crash in a residential neighborhood on the north shore of Long Island in January 1990. In 2005 Brian pilled an 18 year old female driver from her burning car that had flipped over on the Long Island Expressway. On 3 seperate occasions Brian also performed lifesaving CPR on complete strangers. He was always visible in Long Beach New York after Hurricane Sandy in October 2011 by supplying clothing and preparing hot meals to those devastated by the storm.
Brian was a Cub Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader. He was a certified Dive Master who taught many to scuba dive. He was very involved in the Children of Hope Organization which provides alternatives to young pregnant girls to prevent them from taking their newborn infants and throwing them in the trash. Brian never sat around watching other do - He was always the one doing. He combined the love for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his love for helping by being involved with the band Twisted Sister very own Dee Snider's organization called Bikers For Babies.

Maybe his biggest mission other than his family was his dedication to the service men and women of our Country by helping with the Wounded Warrior Project. Brian would say "Freedom is not Free, it costs arms and legs".  Brian did many things for many people. Not long before Brian's passing he delivered furniture to a disabled Naval service woman who lost everything she owned during Hurricane Sandy. She was living in another house with no furniture and no place for her children to sit or sleep. Brian sloved that problem approximately two weeks prior to his death.  Brian was the son of an FDNY member and responded to the Sept 11th attach on New York City.

Brian Thomas was a man that spent his life doing good for many.  It is now our duty and society's duty to do good for his family because it was society that profited from Brian's actions.  For all that Brian did for others, it's now time for all of us to step up to the plate and help out Brian's family. Brian's wife Heather is now left to financially support their 4 wonderful children, Connor 14, Riley 11, Liam 9 and Abigail 6,  on her own. Living here on Long Island, we all know how tough it is to do financially with two incomes and how much tougher it could be with just one. The men and women of the Nassau County Sheriff's Department will be hosting a fundraiser for the Thomas Family on December 3rd, 2014 at The Nutty Irishman 323 Main St, Farmingdale NY. 6pm-10pm. Open Bar/ Buffet/Band/Chinese Auction.
