I was diagnosed with mild IBS for my complaint of frequent tummyaches. Two months later i went back for a
well woman visit and told my nurse practitioner that my tummyaches were getting worse and I was very tired. Thank God, she ordered an abdominal ultrasound and the skilled technician found spots on my liver. I was immediately sent to an imaging place where they did a catscan and found a large tumor in my upper colon.
Since June, life has been different, I have been a frequent visitor to MRI tubes, and scan machines.
I have been in the hospital 3 times, one of which was a 2 week stay. I have had 8 rounds of chemotherapy, and a foot of my colon removed. I am happy to say, I DO NOT have any more tummy aches, YAY!! And I feel better than I did before diagnosis.
The time has come to get the cancer out of my liver with a liver resection surgery at Sloan Kettering Cancer center in NYC. They will in a nutshell, take my liver out get rid of all the cancer and put it back in. They will probably also implant a removable pump into my abdominal cavity that will pump chemotherapy medication directly into my hepatic artery and prevent the cancer from coming back!!
I will have to travel to NYC several times to have this treatment managed as an outpatient. I am anxiously awaiting approval from the insurance company and my first appt is in 6 days! Surgery will be shortly after.
I have been so grateful for all the support and love people have shown me on this journey. It has been humbling and strengthening in so many ways. I am grateful I have been able to be with my boys and still well enough to take them to school and activities. They have given me all my strength to get cured.
The downside is that I have lost a lot of income since June and we have had many extra expenses on copays, medicines, and such. Many people have expressed a desire to help. I am posting this as an opportunity for those people to help with any donations(none to small). These funds will go for getting treatment started and travel expenses to and from NYC. Please do not feel obligated in any way and only give what you are comfortable with.
I humbly and sincerely thank you, and plan to spend the rest of my life helping people through this cancer journey in some way!! Never think frequent tummy aches are not a big deal, because they might be!!! God's got this!!!
