Kare 4 Kaleigh

        The Story: Kaleigh is 22 years old. Due to a stroke Kaleigh suffered in the womb of her caring mother, Kaleigh has multiple disabilities.  Kaleigh has been in a special seat since she was two years old and that seat was put in a wheelchair when she was 5 years old. Kaleigh weighs 78 pounds now and it is difficult for her to go many places. Most of her travel has become going to numerous doctors appointments and nothing else. Kaleigh had a spinal fusion when she was 10 years old and that made moving her very difficult as she has a rod down her spine from her shoulders to her pelvis.  Kaleigh had an osteotomy of the hip (the surgical cutting of a bone or removal of a piece of bone). Kaleigh has endured much in her short life, but she continues to flash her beautiful smile at all.
           Our wish: is that Kaleigh will be able to get a handicapped accessible van that would allow her to travel to places other than a doctor's office and a chair that is made to fit her body. We would like to make it possible for her to go more places with the comfort her own chair instead of the multiple moves it requires for her to travel now.  When Kaleigh leaves home, she has to be carried to the car. And the stroller has to be put in the trunk. With Kaleigh's fused spine it is not really safe for her to travel in the back of a car unsupported.
