NEW BERN, Craven County — A child has been injured in a shooting in New Bern.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office says the incident took place on Pompano Drive near Gracie Farms Road. Officials say the girl was in a car with her mother when she was shot. She says the 5-year-old's name is Amelia Brown. The 5-year-old was shot in the head and was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, according to officials. The hospital is a Level I Adult Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
