Daniel & Jolijn - Better Places - organiseren dit fundraiser event.
Ethiopië is een prachtig land met een zeer vriendelijke bevolking. Op het gebied van toerisme is er enorm veel te zien. Helaas ligt ook hier de toeristische sector stil door de COVID-19 crisis. Heel veel mensen leven van de toerisme, deze mensen komen nu echt in de problemen. Er gaat geen dag voorbij zonder dat een chauffeur, een gids of een kok bij ons op kantoor om hulp komt vragen.
Wij willen graag via deze fundraising families van chauffeurs, gidsen en gastgezinnen helpen met wie we nauw samenwerken in de bekende Toeristische trekpleisters zoals Lalibela, Gondar, Simien NP and nog meer. Bijna al onze klanten hebben bij deze mensen in de auto gezeten, hun verhalen gehoord, door het land getrokken of aan tafel meegegeten.
Voor hen gaan we voedselpakketten samenstellen bestaande uit olie, zout, zeep, tef (om injera te bereiden), rijst en suiker. We zullen deze pakketten regelmatig laten verdelen door onze lokale agenten in de genoemde plaatsen. Hoe meer donaties, hoe meer mensen we ze kunnen steunen!
Helpen is gemakkelijk: je kunt een bedrag naar keuze doneren via de link, en van dit bedrag kopen wij boodschappen in om uit te delen. Een pakket van 20 euro is al genoeg voor een familie van 4 om basisboodschappen voor 2 weken in huis te hebben!
Het is de bekende druppel op een gloeiende plaat, het blijft belangrijk om deze mensen een handje te helpen, zeker in een land zonder sociaal vangnet zoals we dat in Nederland en België kennen.
Wij zouden het fantastisch vinden als je een donatie zou willen doen, om deze mensen aan eten te helpen voor de komende weken.

Ethiopia is a breathtaking country with a kind and welcoming people.A visit to Ethiopia is sure to leave life-lasting impressions. Much like everywhere else, the COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately stopped the tourism industry in its tracks in Ethiopia. For many Ethiopians, tourism is their livelihood and these people are now facing serious problems. Not a day goes by that a driver, guide or cook does not visit us at our office looking for assistance in these harsh times.
Through this fundraising campaign, we aim to help the families of the drivers, guides and host families together with whom we work very closely at the touristic highlights as Lalibela, Simien NP , Gondar and more. Almost all our clients have ridden with them in their cars, have heard their stories, have trekked the country with them or ate with them at their dinner table.
We will have food packets assembled for them consisting of oil, salt, soap, tef (local grain to prepare injera), rice and sugar. For as long as we can, we will distribute these packets frequently through our local agents in aforementioned locations. The more donations we receive, the longer we can provide help.
Helping is easy. Donate as much as you want via the link and we will use that money to buy the necessary groceries and then assemble and distribute the packets. A packet of 20 euros covers the basic supplies for a family of four for 2 weeks!
Helping these people remains of utmost importance, especially in a country without a social welfare system similar to what we are accustomed to in Western Europe.
