Hebert Family Gastroschisis Fund

Adalynn Elena Hebert was born on 11/11/14. She was a precious and plump 8lb 6oz baby girl with one heck of a set of lungs. The only problem was that she was born with Gastroshisis - a rare birth defect that had gone unnoticed during the pregnancy and occurs in only 3 in every 10,000 births.

Gastroschisis is a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall. The baby’s intestines stick outside of the baby’s body, through a hole beside the belly button. The hole can be small or large and sometimes other organs, such as the stomach and liver, can also stick outside of the baby’s body.

Gastroschisis occurs early during pregnancy when the muscles that make up the baby’s abdominal wall do not form correctly. A hole occurs which allows the intestines and other organs to extend outside of the body, usually to the right side of belly button. Because the intestines are not covered in a protective sac and are exposed to the amniotic fluid, the bowel can become irritated, causing it to shorten, twist, or swell.

Shortly after she was born she was rushed to Children's hospital in New Orleans where she can remain for months.

Currently they are using a silo to replace her stomach, colon, and intestines back into her little body. This process takes around a week. After that she will need surgeries and rehabilitation.

Tyler Hebert and Teresa Gatica are amazing, loving, hardworking people and parents. Not only are they parents to little Adalynn, they also have a precious 3 year old named Kim.

The road ahead of them is a long one and the cost is already stacking up. Since Adalynn is in New Orleans (away from their home in Gray, LA), they will not be able to work. Not only will they have astronomical hospital bills, but they will still have monthly bills and living expenses to worry about.

Please consider donating to my brother and his beautiful family. I can't think of any other people who deserve the love and support of others more.

Any money that can be raised will chip off the tiniest bit of stress and worry from their already heavy shoulders.

Thank you so much for reading her story and for your donation.

Please share this campaign and help us spread the word.
