Teri's Medical Fund

Donation protected
This is the story of my daughter Teri Schoff (Short) who resides in Florida. She started this medical journey when she was forced to leave her job due to spinal problems. Since this, she met the fate of so many other woman with the discovery of Ovarian Cancer, Stage 3. Facing numerous delays because of the hurricane, she finally underwent her first surgery in September.  The Omentum ( fatty membrane that covers and supports the organs and intestines) was also removed with her female organs. This first visit for 3 days in the hospital leading up to this procedure cost $17,000 (US FUNDS). The procedure itself cost $63, 000 (US FUNDS). Her second surgery involved the implantation of 2 large ports. One in her chest and one in her abdomen. This visit costs her $30,000 (US FUNDS). When she began to receive chemotherapy she had an allergic reaction to carboplatin which caused her to "code".  This forced the doctors to now remove the port that was implanted in her abdomen because of her severe allergies. Teri still needs many more chemo treatments. Her insurance only covers a fraction of these costs. Her last chemo was $5,600 (US FUNDS). The amount does vary, sometimes more than this.

Through all of this my daughter has remained positive. The bills continue to come in the mail.....I tell my daughter "please put them aside for now, your focus is getting better."  As time passes these bills are being deferred to collections. We want her to stay positive. The amount continues to grow, her body continues to fight. Our family stands strong with support.
