Paula's Cancer Care Fund

Hi, I'm Paula Ziegler. I'm the mother of 4 amazing kids and the grandmother to my precious grandson. My husband and I have been married for 23 years and we are excited for our exciting future together.

Just a few days ago, I was diagnosed with Invasive Globular Carcinoma (breast cancer), or ILC, in my left breast. The news came as a surprise and I have a tentative surgery date set for early December. I will undergo a modified radical mastectomy procedure on my left breast, which includes the removal of my lymph nodes from my chest/arm area. I will begin chemo therapy immediately after my recovery from surgery and conclude with radiation treatment. Altogether, my medical treatment will last about a year.

I'm hoping to continue working throughout my treatment, depending on how well I respond. As a freelance make-up artist, I spend my time on my feet and enjoy bringing a smile with every client interaction. Based on the intense procedures, lengthy treatment, and tough recovery, I expect to have days where I will need to remain home. During these times, I will rely on those around me for their support and care.

My research has led me to a newer form of hair retention during chemo: cold cap therapy. Based on the reviews from other patients, it seems like a wonderful option other than wearing a wig. If so, we are hoping to have the funds in place for cold cap therapy as it must begin day one of chemo therapy treatment. Although, this new form of preventative care is pricey, it's a nice alternative to a wig (which can be irritable and awkward).

If you would like to message me, please do so privately. This is so overwhelming to my family and friends, and I might not get back to you right away.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and financial support during this trying season in life!  I welcome your help in adding my family to your church prayer chains as well. Your help makes all the difference for me and my loved ones. I will make every effort to update on a regular basis.
